Short Poem to be more Grateful

Dawn breaks, eyes open slow
A new day’s gift bestowed
First breath, a gentle start
Gratitude fills the heart
For simply being here
Is a blessing so dear
Each morning we arise
Hope renewed in our eyes
Sheets rustle, muscles stretch
A fresh canvas to etch
With dreams and plans anew
Possibilities in view
The world outside awaits
With its joys and its fates
But this moment, so still
With wonder does it fill
For some, this chance was lost
Their final night it cost
So cherish this first light
Embrace the morning’s might
In waking, we’re reborn
To face whatever’s borne
This gift of one more day
Should take our breath away
