A heroic act unfolded in Michigan when Jessica Bauer came to the rescue of a 4-year-old autistic boy who had jumped into a lake.

Autistic children face a higher risk of drowning, but the lake would have to settle for its aquatic residents as both Jessica Bauer and the boy’s grandmother sprang into action when they saw him tumble into the water. Without a second thought, Jessica tossed her smartphone aside and leaped into the lake.

The incident was captured by a Ring camera, capturing the boy’s fall into the pond and Jessica Bauer’s courageous rescue. As a mother of a three-year-old herself, witnessing the young boy in distress was terrifying, but she admitted to Inside Edition that she didn’t hesitate to jump in and help.

The 4-year-old’s mother later expressed her gratitude to her heroic neighbor, and Jessica Bauer revealed that the boy she rescued is now doing well and eagerly anticipating his 5th birthday celebration.
